Summer Vipassana Retreat with Heather Martin & Kamala Masters

August 18, 2017 - August 25, 2017

Vipassana retreats are spent in silent meditation practice, with alternating periods of sitting and walking meditation. Offered each day are instructions; either individual or small group discussions with the teacher, and a dharma talk. The combination of silence, support and assistance, provides an extremely beneficial environment for developing meditation practice.

The momentum of hours of quiet, without distractions or responsibilities, allows the heart to release its guard and access levels of peace and tenderness not usually accessible to us. As the busy mind calms down, it settles and becomes clearer and brighter, revealing glimpses into the simple yet deep truths of all nature, and our own hearts. When experienced for ourselves these insights are transformative and liberating.

Daily period of yoga.

This retreat is suitable for both experienced and beginning meditators. More information here or email ssinsightmeditation@gmail.com

Metta Retreat with Kate Dresher

May 12, 2016 - May 15, 2016

Metta or Loving Kindness meditation attunes us to our natural and great capacity for connecting with and caring for ourselves and others. It is true friendliness. As we practice, we deliberately nurture our heart’s spontaneous affinity for peacefulness and kindness, acceptance and forgiveness. The practices of Metta (Loving Kindness) and Vipassana (Clear Seeing) intertwine and are mutually supportive.

Chi Running & Walking with Angela James

April 11, 2014 - April 13, 2014

This weekend retreat is for anyone wanting to experience a true “get away” weekend with delicious organic food and like-minded people.  You will learn how to use Good Body Mechanics, which will not only enhance the joy of running and walking, you can apply these principals to every day life!!

ChiRunning emphasizes efficient biomechanical running form to reduce use of muscles and the pain and pounding that the body takes during recreational jogs or competitive runs.

Running and walking are the oldest and most natural of human activities, but very few of us have been taught how to run and walk well. ChiRunning goes hand in hand with ChiWalking, a mindful walking technique and fitness program for everyone. The benefits are manifold as you learn to walk from the deep strength of your core and move in a way that prevents injuries. Bring new depth to your movement, and transform your running and walking from a sport to a mindful practice.  By the end of the weekend, you’ll be moving with greater ease and fluidity than you ever imagined possible.

Angela James is a world traveler and a strong proponent of health and wellness. She loves nothing better than to find new locations to exercise in a beautiful natural setting. She was the first coach for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program who subsequently created the Angela James Spirit Award in her honor. In 2009 Angela became the first Certified Chi Running/Walking Coach in Vancouver, British Columbia. With a background in nursing and health Angela is excited about having found a way to run pain and injury free while reaping the mental and physical benefits of regular exercise. Combining her passion for travel with the joy she gets from exercise in the great outdoors Angela is very excited to offer her Chi Running/Walking programs.
