New Year’s Vipassana Retreat with Heather Martin

December 27, 2015 - January 01, 2016

Our retreats are spent in silent meditation practice, with alternating periods of sitting and walking meditation.  Offered each day are instructions; either individual or small group discussions with the teacher, and a dharma talk.  The combination of silence, support and assistance, provides an extremely beneficial environment for developing meditation practice.

The momentum of hours of quiet, without distractions or responsibilities, allows the heart to release its guard and access levels of peace and tenderness not usually accessible to us. As the busy mind calms down, it settles and becomes clearer and brighter, revealing glimpses into the simple yet deep truths of all nature, and our own hearts.  When experienced for ourselves these insights are transformative and liberating.

This period of intensive practice is suitable for both beginning and experienced practitioners, and – as with all our retreats – will include systematic meditation instructions, guided Loving Kindness practices, Dharma Talks, individual practice discussions and a daily period of mindful yoga with Celeste Mallett.

We will celebrate New Year’s Eve with late evening sitting, together with a ceremony fitting the turning of the year, with the option of staying up till midnight. More info here.

Harvest the Spirit: An Autumn Yoga Retreat with Emily Millen & Sue Horning

September 29, 2016 - October 02, 2016

One of the greatest challenges of modern day living is to live harmoniously with nature and the changing seasons. Autumn is a time to harvest the bounty we grew in summer, to store and prepare for the winter ahead, and is associated with the metal element, signifying contraction and introspection, as opposed to the upwards and outwards movement of the fiery summer. It is a time to reflect, to receive what is of essential worth, and to let go of what is not useful to us.

Retreat to the serene natural environment of Stowel Lake Farm on Salt Spring Island and take harvest of your fullest intentions and manifestations of the year.

Check out their Unity Retreats website here and some footage from their last retreat on the farm.

Emily & Sue have been leading retreats together since 2012 & have been teaching along side each other since 2009. Sue is the creator of Unity Yoga Tea House in Vancouver & has completed over 500 hours of training in many traditions, including Ashtanga Vinyasa, Anusara, Qi Gong, Thai Massage, Partner and Acrobatic Yoga.  As a trained Astrologer, she also offers spiritual guidance through Bazi, I-Ching and Tarot. Emily has been teaching yoga around Vancouver for 4 years.  She completed  her 200hr Anusara teacher training with Chris Chavez.  Raw and authentic, what Emily learned at the Randolph Academy of the Arts in Toronto, informs her teaching as a journey to the self.

Enlightenment Intensive with Simon Thomson

March 28, 2014 - April 01, 2014

Why do an Enlightenment Intensive (EI)?
An Enlightenment Intensive (EI) is a self-inquiry retreat that has the capacity to bring both subtle and profound transformations in your self and in your life.
You can break through and transform fears, ‘stuckness’, questions of self and purpose, apathy, struggle, as well as clear long-held limiting conscious and unconscious ideas and beliefs, and repeating life-patterns, essentially healing wounds and freeing space within to let go of the past and the future, allowing you to be as you are in the present moment, unburdened by the noise of the running daily commentary of your mind.
You will connect with your human authenticity and humanity, your innate inner guidance, acceptance, non-judgement, as well as establish or strengthen a connection with creativity, playfulness, desire, will, strength, vitality and clarity.

“It’s like coming out of the shadows and meeting myself as I am and the world as it is, here and now, not through my perceptions of how it’s always seemed to me.”– quote taken from EI participant

An EI opens doors and windows. It sheds light on all the places you’ve felt stuck or trapped in life and in your self. It becomes possible to experience reality outside of the limitations of your percepetions. Core beliefs that have long limited you from living a full abundant life get annihilated.

You’ll discover what is true for you under your own authority.

Find out what happens when you question what you think you know is true about you. For more information visit www.essentialinquiry.com
